Race Summary

KING LION, nicely placed two or three wide from the beginning, angled four wide leaving the turn to go after front-running BROKE SHARPLY, took over, drew clear, then was kept to his task to hold sway. CLEAR TO CLOSE, outrun for five furlongs, came out six wide entering the stretch and was going well at the end. BROKE SHARPLY attended the pace from early on, alternated for the advantage with BRYCESLITTLESECRET while outside that one, made the pace into the stretch and weakened. CHIRINDA FOREST, within easy striking distance always, loomed prominently inside the leaders through the drive and could gain only slightly. BRYCESLITTLESECRET came out at the start bumping soundly with EL HIELO HOMBRE, went up to contest the pace inside, reached the front just prior to going a half while dueling with BROKE SHARPLY, lost the edge to that one and weakened nearing the lane. GOLDEN LACES, near the inside most of the way, failed to rally. RETROSPECT, well placed three wide for six furlongs, eased out five wide for the drive and flattened out. NATURAL BOY, five wide while outrun to the stretch, came out seven or eight wide for the drive and never menaced. NIGHT WING, well placed while tracking the leaders five wide for the six furlongs, weakened thereafter. EL HIELO HOMBRE, sluggish to start and checked when bumped by BRYCESLITTLESECRET, was finished upon going a half.
