Race Summary

EXCITING METRO gained a slight edge inside early while dueling with PRO PRADO and KELLY'S LANDING, lost the advantage to the latter a quarter-mile from the wire, lost position, then, while remaining next to the rail, came again under stout left-handed whipping to prove best. KELLY'S LANDING forced the pace from the outset while three abreast, gained the edge upon going a half, opened a clear lead a furlong out, then lugged in thereafter and failed to last. PRO PRADO, up close between foes from the outset, was steadied between foes after a furlong when in tight quarters, continued up close into the lane but couldn't muster the needed response. MONKEY HILL settled in behind the dueling leaders, raced within easy striking distance, came out five wide for the drive, loomed prominently but wasn't good enough. WHOPPER VICTORY (CHI), outrun to the stretch, raced four wide through the final quarter but lacked a serious late response. PRIVATE HORDE tired leaving the turn.
