Race Summary

KELLY'S LANDING, never far back and four or five wide to the lane, came wider for the drive, was bumped for a couple of strides by BUBBA GUM nearing the eighth pole, reached the front, then prevailed while lugging in at the end despite stout left-handed urging and bumping BUBBA GUM approaching the wire. BUBBA GUM, well placed from the start, while in behind the dueling leaders, moved four wide into the lane, came out when roused left-handed and bumped with the winner, was in turn bumped in the late going by that one and wasn't good enough. MUTACHI, well placed between foes three or four wide to the stretch, angled six wide when straightened for the drive, was in tight briefly at the eighth pole, then couldn't make up the difference when drifting in and out a bit at the end. WILL'S WISH, outrun for a half, circled foes 10 wide into the upper stretch, was bumped by MONKEY HILL at the furlong grounds, then lacked a further response. MONKEY HILL, bumped at the start by ONTHEDEANSLIST, was outrun for a half while five wide, came wider into the lane, bumped with WILL'S WISH nearing the final furlong, then lacked a further account. GRIN AND FROWN , within striking distance to the stretch while near the inside, eased out four wide for the final furlong but was empty. ONTHEDEANSLIST ducked out at the start bumping MONKEY HILL, was steadied and angled in soon after to contest the pace outside of DAVIDS EXPECTATIONS, gained a slight edge on the turn, then weakened in the drive. DAVIDS EXPECTATION gained a slim lead early, edged near the inside, dueled with ONTHEDEANSLIST while inside that one, held on well until the final quarter and weakened thereafter. C. R. FLYING STAR bobbled while breaking awkwardly in a tangle, then never was a factor.
