Race Summary

CATCOMINATCHA, reserved after the start and three or four wide, edged up nearing the final quarter, briefly lacked room behind a wall of horses entering the stretch, split foes four wide when an opening appeared nearing the final furlong, caught front-running HIGH COTTON about the sixteenth pole and outgamed that one in a stiff drive. HIGH COTTON went up near the inside early to force the pace, gained a slight advantage nearing the final quarter, edged clear for the final furlong while coming out five wide, then failed to contain the winner's surge. MONDAVI, never far back and near the inside between rivals to the stretch, angled to the rail when clear for the drive and was empty late. MR. PINSTRIPE, always well placed and racing near the rail most of the way, loomed prominently for the final furlong and came up empty. FLANDERS FIELDS broke to the inside while bobbling slightly, was unhurried and raced ten wide early, continued seven wide around the turn and into the stretch, reached contention approaching the final furlong and lacked a further response. CHARLEY TANGO, in hand early while between foes six wide, came out farther on the track entering the upper stretch but failed to rally. RED RAYMOND worked his way in three wide early, saved ground around the turn, continued inside but was empty. LAITY raced forwardly five wide for nearly six furlongs and tired. RIGHT PLACE N TIME attended the pace from early on while battling between foes three or four wide, put a head in front on the backstretch, continued on about even terms to the stretch and faltered. TESTIMONY, bumped at the start and steadied, never menaced. SHARP ATTACK vied for the lead three abreast from early on, raced close up until the final quarter and gave way in the drive. GRAND SURVIVAL, slammed at the start by BRASSIE PREINCE, was steadied and allowed to settle, inched his way forward six or seven wide on the backstretch, made a solid run six wide nearing the final quarter but flattened out badly when straightened for the drive. BRASSIE PRINCE bore in at the start, jolted GRAND SURVIVAL, forced that one in on TESTIMONY, then was done early.
